Superior Performance of New Technology ETA+ Steinmeyer Ball Screws
All MAG Fadal FX models feature 32mm Steinmeyer ETA+ ball screws providing the ideal linkage between motor and slide. In other words, an extremely stiff, yet highly efficient (low friction) connection with no reversing error.
The Steinmeyer ETA+ ball screws design achieves a 50% increase in rigidity and a 67% decrease in friction (reduced heat growth) over comparable 32 mm ball screws. This greatly improves the accuracy of the machine. Reversing error is eliminated all-together, where the ETA+ ball screw exhibits a perfectly linear behavior regardless of speeds and direction of motion. Friction is reduced by changing the way the balls are re-circulated through the nuts. The balls are separated from one another so they do not rub against each other, thus reducing friction. Moreover, the stiffness and low friction of the ETA + ball screws allow considerably better dynamics.
These premium quality ball screws are supported on both ends – fixed at one end in both radial and axial directions, and floating axially on the other end. This set up offers extra stiffness leading to superior performance.
