Motion Component Sizing

Motion Component Sizing is the science behind speed and acceleration for MAG Fadal VMCs. Understanding machine specifications is the heart of application development.  Knowing which machine to select with the appropriate specifications enables you to predict machine tool performance prior to running the program on the machine.  One of the primary factors that affect productivity is rapid rates and its relationship to acceleration.

Another key characteristic to Motion Component Sizing is Servo Tuning.  Proper servo sizing and tuning is very important in a modern digital CNC since it directly affects the machine stability and performance.  Current digital servo technology provides plenty of servo functions to help the machine achieve a quick response and high accuracy.  Improperly tuned machines tend to create motor noise, overheat the motors and result in sub-optimal ball bar accuracy results.  In the extreme cases, it will cause the motor couplers to wear out and burn the servo motors.  MAG Fadal machines are tuned using the latest digital servo tuning tools to optimize the performance for the widest range of moving masses for a ball screw and servo motor combination.
